The Testing of Our Faith
Treasured Vignettes

“Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?” 2 Corinthians 13:5

What is the litmus test of the faith? St. Paul indicates, in this passage, that, at least, the greater part of the test occurs when we are at our weakest. Do we rejoice that “we shall live with Him because of the power of God directed toward us?” In the face of every, and all, temptation to do wrong, do we press on to do what is right? Do we do everything for the truth? Do we use the authority we have through Jesus Christ to build up or tear down? Do we allow the Lord to make us complete, to comfort us? Are we like-minded with other believers that the name of Christ may be glorified and not shamed? Are we living in peace with God and man? Do we accept God’s presence with us, recognizing and responding to Him as His children? Do we allow the grace of God, by His Holy Spirit, to teach us so we may learn, in the classroom of our lives, how to pass this test? Selah.
