“But the fruit of the Spirit is . . . peace . . .”
Galatians 5:22
Galatians 5:22
Generally when we think of fruit, we think of colorful bites that are sweet and juicy. But, in this verse of Scripture, “fruit” means evidence, unashamed and obvious, that the Holy Spirit of God has, and is, transforming the believer into the likeness of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. The Spirit of God has given Christians “new life” and made us “new creatures,” no longer bound or driven by the sin nature (flesh), but living “by the Spirit.” Our conduct, even our attitudes and posture, should openly verify this fact. And, like a good farmer, that does all he can to keep his orchard fruitful, we, too, must diligently keep the blight of pride, the pestilence of envy and the worm of self-interest from ruining the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.
