Disturbing The Peace
Treasured Vignettes

“Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all!” 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Generally speaking nothing can “disturb the peace” quicker for us than other people. Take for instance, people who don’t follow the rules, the “undisciplined,” those who don’t “pay their way” or work hard like we do. Those people who spend their time as “busybodies,” meddling in other people’s affairs, gossiping and “talking about things not proper to mention.” These people irritate like a pebble in one’s shoe, yet, the Lord instructs us not to “regard him {or her} as an enemy,” but “admonish him {or her}” as a close relative. These are those whom we must continually forgive, even when we can no longer associate with him/her because he/she “does not obey” sound instruction. As Christians, our intention should be to discipline with reformation and restoration as our goal, not excommunication. Selah. (See also 2 Thessalonians 3:11-15)
