Treasured Vignettes
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren; and whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these he also glorified. What then shall we say to these things: If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” Romans 8:28-32
What is God’s grace? We have all heard God’s grace defined as “unmerited favor” or “God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense” (an acrostic), but these are only tidbits compared to the banquet of God’s grace. Here’s an expanded definition: The pre-determined extension of His communion, deliverance, forgiveness, enlightenment, guidance, hope, praise, preservation and enablement to those who belong with Him and to Him. Not only must we realize that “God is for us” as Saint Paul says, but we must receive what that is, all that it is because God intends for us to have it. He “pre-determined” that His children should have it and so included it in His covenant through Jesus Christ. It is by faith we receive His grace and employ, as well as, enjoy it.
If God did not spare even His own Son in order to shed His grace on us, then why would He ever withhold it from us when we need it in time of trouble? He never will! “If God is for us, who is against us?” In the face of His grace, how do we answer? Selah
