Treasured Vignettes
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you, not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” John 14:27
One of the evidences of Christ’s welcomed presence in a person’s life is peace. It is evident to stranger and friend alike. At a recent gathering of people, I had a woman come up to me and say, “There’s something different about you from these other people. There is a peace in you.” When I told her I was a Christian, she exclaimed, “Oh, that’s the difference!”
Many people who have entered my home have remarked that they sense a climate of peace. It is because Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, has given His peace to me. It is not worldly peace that is easily shattered by circumstance and the whims of men, but, an abiding peace, a bedrock in an uncertain world, that is a gift to every Christian heart and home. Even when we are shaken by trials and troubles or uncertain about the future, we have the unchangeable Rock, the Overcomer, Jesus Christ, upon which to stand. Selah.
