Under The Grace Of God
Treasured Vignettes

"And the child continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him." Luke 2:40

God's grace is not limited to a select few or even only to the faithful. It often amazes us, Christians, how gracious God is to the unrighteous, even to His enemies. But let us not be foolish in believing that because He is gracious, He is weak or compromising. For those who mock Him, because of His graciousness, or continue to do evil while He is gracious, these will, in the end, know His wrath, His righteous judgments and the full penalties for sin.
We are commanded by Christ to be gracious as He is. "But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous" (Matthew 5:44-45).
God is sovereign in His governing of Creation and it often chafes us that He is merciful to those who hurt us. "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy," says the Lord. So let us be ever thankful that He sheds His grace on us, whether young or old, friend or enemy, and let us, by faith, receive His grace and believe in, honor and worship Him alone. Selah.
