Treasured Vignettes
“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.” Romans 1:20-23
This year, in the season of thanksgiving and celebrating Our Savior's birth, the world has attempted to malign, most specifically, the Judeo-Christian faith. Tom Brockaw has declared evangelical Christians a political threat. Barbara Walters has attempted to explain away the existance of heaven, and by elimination, hell. Fox News interviewed the disenchanted religious and others to discredit Christian belief. More horror movies have been released in this season than ever before in Hollywood history. Do you think Satan, the prince of this age and our real enemy, has a plan? We, Christians were never charged to "defend the faith," but "fight the good fight, keeping faith and a good conscience" (1 Timothy 1:18,19). We were not charged to labor to provide physical evidence of the existance of God, but to believe and conduct our lives in the Holy Spirit and in faith. Jesus commands us to be alert and "see to it that no one misleads" us. We, Christians, are not to be frightened, but faithful; not distancing ourselves from our neighbors, but making disciples. We have been forewarned by Jesus Christ Himself and His disciples, that in the last days, before His second appearing, the true believers would be few; wickedness would increase. Are you ready, willing and able to fight the good fight of faith when people who surround you are in rebellion, disobedience and idolatry? Think about it.
