Treasured Vignettes
“You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. . . The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery. . .” Galatians 5:13, 19
When chastity (purity, virtue) is honored in the hearts of a people, freedom does not fear violation; the immoral will betray its trust. The pillar of chastity consists of honor, trustworthiness, purity of thought, word and deed and faithfulness. If people indulge their lusts, they will spoil the innocence of freedom and corrupt its future. It is the sin of lust that devalues the individual and oppresses people with cruelty. Jesus said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. And the slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. If therefore the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.” If a nation is built upon chastity, its citizens need not fear violation, betrayal or destruction. Think about it.
