"Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee."
Psalm 63:3
Psalm 63:3
Chesed, the Hebrew word for "lovingkindness," infers loyalty. I've never really meditated on the "loyalty" of God before. But, He is loyal to His people, to those who love Him and obey His commandments. He has also remained loyal even when He is betrayed, ignored, crucified and blasphemed, for He is the exact character of loyalty. And, He is loyal to His children, never leaving or forsaking His covenant with us. "Though I be faithless, yet He is faithful."
Loyalty speaks of obedience, submission, devotion, constancy & faith. Who does that remind you of? "who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, {and} being made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." Jesus Christ was loyal to His Father and submissive to their plan for the salvation of mankind. He was loyal to those whom He loved, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son. . ." And, He requires of us who are His children no less--"Love the Lord Your God with all your heart, soul and strength. And, love your neighbor as yourself." Think about it.
