“Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be acquitted of great transgression.” Psalm 19
David, the psalmist, knew that, not only acquittal, but the power to resist and be victorious over sin lay with God Almighty. In his heart, he knew that mankind had a tendency toward violation of God’s ways. He knew God to be righteous in His judgments. But he also knew that God was kind and merciful. David was “a man after God’s own heart” because he feared the Lord and in reverence, drew near, rather than fled from God’s presence. The one who, in his/her heart, fears the Lord yet draws near to Him, this is the one who knows God, who believes in God and can receive acquittal and victory. Think about it.
