Treasured Vignettes
"For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified." Hebrews 10:14
Have you ever watched the television program, "Dirty Jobs?" On one or more of the programs, the actor finds himself stepping into human excrement, sometimes waste deep, in order to clean it up. The source of the excrement could be the backed up sewer line in a single-family dwelling or the sewage plant of a town. But no man could take on the human excrement of the world! Jesus Christ took on the excrement of human sin, which is exponentially greater in destructiveness, deadliness and filth than the human body's digestive waste. He took on the dirtiest job so that we all could be clean and able to live spiritually healthy lives. We watch the show and cringe (or gag) at the sight of this actor wading through the vile sludge. Yet, can you remain unmoved, even uninterested, in the Son of Man, Jesus Christ, dying in your moral filth? The "dirty job" the man just completed will come around again. But, the "dirty job" Jesus Christ completed to remove Sin from our lives is "finished," once and for all for all mankind. Oh, we can find more moral filth to acrue after the final clean up that Christ purchased for us. But why would we want to? Think about it.
