Two Kinds of Wisdom
Treasured Vignettes

"Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?" 1 Corinthians 1: 20

Do you think yourself wise and intelligent? If so, then, the revelation of God and His plan will remain unknown to you. For He reveals Himself to "babes," those who are eager to learn of Him without pretense to any ability of their own. Maturity to the worldly-wise is called "sophistication." To be considered sophisticated by worldly standards, one must pretend to be more than enough in oneself to accomplish life. But to God, this is foolishness. For no man can thoroughly know the ways and thoughts of God, let alone His plan and how He intends to accomplish it. Man must be willing to have God be the Teacher, the Director and the Leader in order that the soul of man may find the peace and satisfaction he so longs for. When one considers himself "wise and intelligent," he must strive to prove it; strive to keep up what he knows in his soul is a facade. The world is "the great pretender" to supreme authority, knowledge and wisdom. Those who love the world are deceived and without understanding. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, has revealed Himself, "in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3). But the worldly-wise still blindly walk to their destruction. Think about it.
