No Excuses!
Treasured Vignettes

"For God sent Christ Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to end all God's anger against us. He used Christ's blood and our faith as the means of saving us from His wrath . . ." (Romans 3:23)

What excuses are being used to continue in sin, having once enjoyed the salvation of God through Jesus Christ? Excuse #1: "God is a forgiving God and my sinning shows how gracious He is." God hates sin because sin is birthed out of mistrust of God and His ways. If anyone keeps on sinning, sin becomes part of the makeup of who he/she is. Jesus, who knew so sin, became sin to save people like you and me. You and I, on the other hand, know sin and we know that the more we practice sin the more we become it. "Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious ideal; yet now, God declares us 'not guilty' of offending Him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in His kindness freely takes away our sins" Romans3:25. And having trusted Jesus Christ for your salvation from sin are you now going to continue to sin? Doesn't that make of no effect the saving work of Christ in your life? When we truly put our trust in Jesus Christ, we will obey all that He commanded us. Only obedience of Christ's commands solidifies and testifies of who you are and whose you are. In the past "you went along with the crowd and were just like all the others, full of sin, obeying Satan the mighty prince of the power of the air, who is at work right now in the hearts of those who are against the Lord" (Ephesians 2:2). But by God's mercy and grace we have been forgiven and have changed the way we live. We cannot say we are reconciled to God through Christ and continue in the lifestyle of sinning. And we cannot try to excuse our continuing to sin because "the terrible wrath of God is upon all those who do them" (Ephesians 5:6). Think about it.
