NEGLECTED
"And some [seed] fell on the rock, and as soon as it sprouted, it withered away, because it had no moisture" (Luke 8:6AMP).
Though the word of God may find a place to nestle in and begin to grow, it can be short-lived because of anger, unforgiveness and bitterness. Rocky soil is broken up soil that has a place to receive the "seed"; but, it still is full of hardness and dryness that does not nurture the sprout. Jesus says that "rocky soil" meets with trial and temptation like any other seed sown in the field. The most trying situations are those that are offensive to us and our sense of well-being. It is then that we are tempted to harden our hearts toward God and others. Thinking we are protecting ourselves, we neglect the very thing that gives life--God's living water . Trials are fiery ordeals that can dry out and shrivel up the Word of God in our lives. Only humble submission to the consistant cultivation and care of the Sower can supply the necessary ingredients for growth and fruitfullness. Think about it.
