A LIGHT IN THE DARK
"His (Jesus) life is the light that shines through the darkness--and the darkness can never extinguish it." John 1:5 AMP
When my young grandchildren come to visit us, they stay in a special room set up just for them. Because they visit only a few times a year, their room and the surroundings are unfamiliar to them. So, at night, we set small "night-lights" that will guide them along the path to the bathroom and to our room. Without those little beacons they might come to harm, become afraid or lost. Should they become ill, afraid or have need, those little lights will guide them safely to a source of help. The night-lights give them comfort and courage along with guidance and protection. They are assured of our love and care for them, even when it is nighttime.
The world, because of sin and evil, has become a dark and confusing (even dangerous) place for mankind. But God, being a loving, caring Parent has not left us to stumble and be afraid. He came to "shine through the darkness" so that we might see and know the "way" through the darkness to eternal safety and security. He came as Jesus the Messiah. Yet, "although He made the world, the world didn't recognize Him when He came" nor did they accept or trust Him to save them. Many fled from the Light, for their deeds were evil and they loved their sin. The darkness seemed the best and safest place for their wickedness. However, it was neither safe nor were they as secure as they foolishly believed they were.
Sadly, there are many who still believe this today. However, there were, and are, those who welcome the Light and trust the One who loves them. They are called, "the children of God." Any who will come and follow the Light will find comfort and courage, even in the darkest hours. They will have a place of safety for their souls and a source of help in a time of need. Think about it.
