CAUGHT UP IN HIS HUMANITY

"And Christ became a human being and lived here among us . . ."  John 1:14 AMP

Christ did not physically stand out from the crowd.  John the Baptist, after saying that he was neither Messiah, Elijah nor a prophet, told the religious leaders, "But right here in the crowd is someone you have never met, who will soon begin His ministry among you, and I am not even fit to be His slave."  Isaiah, the prophet, prophesied that in the eyes of Israel and the world, "there was no attractiveness at all, nothing to make us want him."  Later on, John even questioned, "Are you the One or should we expect another?"  People were continually "caught up in His humanity."  His neighbors could not accept Him as Messiah because He grew up amongst them.  His appearance led people to wonder at His authority when He taught, His capability when He worked wonders and His character when he challenged their traditions.  He was easy to falsely accuse, ridicule and mock, he looked like any other Jew.  Yet, He was without sin, He was God's Son and Christ (anointed One), given authority and power to show the world who God is and what He is like.  But, they were "caught up in His humanity," so they thought they could kill Him as they did the prophets of old or anyone else they determined to be blasphemous and undesirable.  Yet, He was without sin and God's only begotten Son.  How did God show that His Son was not just an ordinary man?  He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in majesty (See Hebrews 1:3).  Think about it.
