"Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up" (Psalm 69:9a, NKJ)
True faith is a zeal for the Lord that resists the popular religious traditions with devoted adherence to the Scriptures. This zeal challenges what man has built with his own ingenuity and strength. This faith trusts not in man but in God alone, especially when surrounded and besieged by our enemies. True faith will often stir those we share it with; yet, if their faith is only in what they see and hear in us and not fueled by a fervency for God on their own, it will cool quickly, even change to animosity. When our edifices of security come crashing down around us, true faith will remain firm in the One who supplies eternal security. When the very ones who declared their love and loyalty to us betray, reject, persecute or, even, give us over to be killed, true faith will forgive and still bless and do good. True faith is not locked into what we have or don't have today. It is grounded on what God holds for us today, tomorrow and forever. Think about it.
