QUOTING IS NOT BELIEVING

"You search the Scriptures, for you believe they give you eternal life.  And the Scriptures point to Me!  Yet you won't come to Me so that I can give you this life eternal!  He (Moses) wrote about Me, but you  refuse to believe him, so you refuse to believe in Me."  (John 5:39-40, 46)

Not everyone who studies the Word of God believes in the Lord God Almighty.  They may believe there is a god.  They may be able to quote chapter and verse out of the Bible.  But their piety is only skin deep.  The Holy Scriptures are unique for they are not the inspired words of men, they are the God-breathed words to mankind, recorded by men. 

The "written Word" points to the "Living Word," Jesus Christ.  The "Living Word" saves the human soul from condemnation through faith in Him.  The written Word, then, confirms and teaches the one who has entered into eternal life (See John 15; 16: 7-15).  The Scriptures, given us by the Holy Spirit of God, becomes the nourishment of our souls.  The Holy Scriptures are not just ink on paper, that can be destroyed by evil men, but enduring, by God's Will, from generation to generation until forever.  Think about it.
