THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER
"The truth of the matter is that you want to be with Me because I fed you, not because you believe in Me." John 6:26
There are those who come to Christ for the satisfaction of their urgent needs. When something is required of them, like obeying His commands, denying themselves or there is no forthcoming material gift, they look elsewhere. You see, their heart was never in it, only their stomach.
There are those who may come because of their need but stay because He has won their hearts and they believe in Him. They are willing to give up all just to follow Him into eternity. His commands become the light to guide them through this dark world, His precepts give them wisdom and understanding. His presence gives them love, joy, peace patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control--all those imperishable things of eternal life.
Have you come seeking Jesus so you can have a full belly or do you seek Him so you may have a full life? "The True Bread is a Person--the One sent by God from heaven, and He gives life to the world. . . I am the Bread of Life, no one coming to Me will ever be hungry again. Those believing in Me will never thirst. . . For it is My Father's will that everyone who sees His Son and believes on Him should have eternal life--that I should raise him at the Last Day" (John 6:33, 35, 40). Think about it.
