DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING?

"Then Jesus told him, 'I have come into the world to give sight to those who are spiritually blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind.'  The Pharisees who were standing there asked,'Are you saying we are blind?'  'If you were blind, you wouldn't be guilty,' Jesus replied.  'But your guilt remains because you claim to know what you are doing.'"  (John 9: 39-41, LB)

How many people have made claims to honor God and follow Christ, yet they hate their brother and do evil in the sight of God?  Judas was among the twelve and betrayed Jesus; Demas, a co-worker with Paul abandoned him; the nicolaitans, gnostics and judaisers were trying to destroy "the Way" by burdening believers with false doctrines.  The battle of faith against sin has raged since before Adam and Eve.  It rages today.

Jesus said, "While I am still here in the world, I give it My light"(John 9:5).  He also promised to give us another Helper after His ascension, the Holy Spirit.  And, He would guide us into all Truth; He would teach us and tell us of the things to come.  If we do what Jesus says, the Comforter will come and dwell in those who trust Him.  Jesus also said this, "I demand that you love each other for you get enough hate from the world!"  Let us then throw off anything that holds us back from loving God and each other, especially those sins that continually trip us up; and, let us obey our Lord's commandments, keeping our eyes on Jesus, our Leader and Instructor.  Think about it.
