SHAMELESS PERSISTENCE AND INSISTANCE
"Ask and keep on asking, and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking, and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking, and the door shall be opened to you . . .If you then, evil-minded as you are, know how to give good gifts--gifts that are to advantage--to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!" (Luke 11:9,13 AMP)
Oftentimes, when an answer to prayer is not immediately forthcoming, we can experience shame. "You don't have enough faith!" "Maybe God doesn't care about you." None of us can say we know God's ways or thoughts for they are more noble and holy than ours. Because we do not understand the truth about God's mercy, we can and will misinterpret His answers and wrongly judge His character. We often chafe under His fatherly care of us, fighting to believe His intentions are for our good when we are suffering some test or trial. What we don't comprehend is that our greatest need is for His Spirit! Without His Spirit, we will not persist or insist in doing His will which brings sure reward. We will succumb to the shame and hide ourselves from Him, resorting to our own meager attempts to "fix it." And, that's a shame! Think about it.
