GIMME MORE!
"And He said to them, Guard yourselves and keep free from [all] covetousness--the immoderate desire for wealth, the greedy longing to have more; for a man's life does not consist and is not derived from possessing overflowing abundance, or that which is over and above his needs" (Luke 12:15 AMP).
When we reject God, we will soon neglect our soul so that we may satisfy our flesh and its desires. Just because a man puts his faith in his own ingenuity and strength does not make God non-existent. Just because a man spends his life pandering to his fleshly desires does not negate the fact that he has a soul. A person may have great pride in himself, spend his life going after whatever he sees and wants and seeking to satisfy every craving and selfish interest. Yet, what will he have at the end of life? He may say, "I leave something for the next generation." But one must still leave behind that which he has chased after to possess. So deceived was he that he convinced himself he had all that mattered. When faced with death, he finds himself impoverished and naked, subject to humiliation. The God that he rejected, he now faces and realizes his folly too late. The soul that he neglected now stands as his accuser of a life wasted on what has no eternal value. The regret, shame and guilt crush his soul, set his teeth to grinding in agony and his lips to wailing for relief that doesn't come. Now his "more" has become so much less than what God desired to give him (Luke 12:21). Think about it.
