YOU CAN'T GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING!
"And He (Jesus) did not need that anyone should witness concerning man--needed no evidence from anyone about men; for He Himself knew what was in human nature [He could read men's hearts]. [1 Sam. 16:7]" (John 2:25 AMP).
Even though there were many who "believed on His name after seeing His signs (wonders, miracles) which He was doing" yet He did not put His trust in them (see John 2:23,24). People who do not connect personally with the Lord but are only wowed by some "divine sign," becoming emotionally excited, will soon change their minds about God. For God will not live up to their expectations. He lives up to Who He is and is true to His character. His way of interacting seems confusing and foolish to the natural man (1 Cor 2:14). Only when the Spirit of God gives understanding, do we comprehend Him and His heart. Jesus came to show us the Father, not so we could be entertained, but that we might be saved from the sure judgment of our sins.
There are many in Christendom who put on the facade of piety, only to hold within their hearts evil. God knows! Jesus warned His disciples that those things done in darkness would be brought to light (Matthew 10:26). He repeatedly spoke about the issues of the heart effecting our relationship with God and man. Yet, it seems, many tried to continue to "fool" God. It is so today. I ask the question not only can you and I trust Christ but can you and I be trusted with Him? What is really in your heart and mine is the truth about our attitude toward God. Since He can read our hearts, we can't get away with anything! Think about it.
