POSSIBLE BUT NOT EASY
"How is it possible for you to believe--how can you learn to believe--who [are content to seek for and] receive praise and honor and glory from one another, and do not seek the praise and honor and glory which come from Him Who alone is God?" (John 6:44 AMP)
It isn't enough to believe there is a god. It isn't enough to read and memorize the Holy Scriptures. It isn't enough to follow the traditions and rites of religion. Because it is too easy for men to make gods with their own imaginations and/or their natural craftiness. It is too easy to impress their fellow man with knowledge. It is too easy to follow the traditions and rites of religion yet have rebellion in the heart. The world is full of people who do just those things. The worldly "way" is broad and seems quite liberal in its praise and honor and glory for the people who travel it. Yet, it is so dark that those who travel it do not see the bridge is out and that they will fall to their deaths.
Those who trust in the One True God are few and they travel an unpopular road. This road is lit by the glory and honor and praise of God. The bridge before them is the will of God in Christ Jesus and built to withstand anything. Those who travel this road are led by the very Spirit of God Who tells them of the things to come. Their destination is eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not "easy street," for your fellow man will criticize and persecute you because you are not seeking their approval or praise. They, who will not travel this road, will fear and hate you because your light exposes their lack of love for God and their accompanying mistakes. They hate you because you will not submit yourself to them so they can boast of their fleshly power. They seek to kill you because you love them enough to speak the truth and live in the Truth; and, they are comfortable to live in delusion.
Nevertheless, Jesus said it is possible to believe and have eternal life, if we will trust in Him and follow Him in honoring God and obeying His commandments. Think about it.
