SUBMISSION
"So then let us [apostles] be looked upon as ministering servants of Christ and stewards (trustees) of the mysteries--that is, the secret purposes--of God. Moreover, it is [essentially] required of stewards that a man should be found faithful--proving himself worthy of trust" (1 Corinthians 4:1-2 AMP).
Whomever you submit yourselves to becomes your master (Romans 6:16). Are you serving God or yourself? You can't serve both; "for either (you) will hate the one and love the other, or (you) will standby and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other" (Matthew 6:24; see also John 2:15-16).
In order to live for Christ in a corrupt society, we must decide who is our master; whom will we put ourselves in subjection to; whose going to "call the shots" in our lives. If it is Christ, then we must take His yoke upon us and learn of Him. We must let God's instructions be our anchor and standard. We must let His Spirit be our teacher. We must become His faithful servants then we will be trustworthy of His purposes.
Submission to God allows no other to be our examiner and judge but the Lord; looks to no other for our commendation (approval and praise). Submission to Christ teaches us to think of others in accordance with Scripture and keeps us from prideful or preferential attitudes.
