HOW TO LIVE FOR CHRIST IN A CORRUPT SOCIETY
REVERENCE

"For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are representing and signifying and proclaiming the fact of the Lord's death until He comes [again].  So then whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in a way that is unworthy [of Him] will be guilty of (profaning and sinning against) the body and blood of the Lord"  1 Corinthians 11:26-27 AMP).

The society in which we live treats the things of God profanely.  That is the root of its corruption.  But we have been delivered from such corruption by the sacrifice of God's Son, Jesus Christ.  We know that God's wrath is payment for those who love their sin and profane the Lord.  How imperative is it that we, Christ-followers, stay alert and prayerful, with the reverential fear of God in our hearts and minds, so as not to be enticed into this sin?

For too long now, coarse jesting and profanity have been tolerated amongst believers in the modern churches.  It ought not to be so!  We wonder why we lack the holy power to witness for Christ in our society, yet we partake of the body and blood of our Savior in an unworthy manner.  We too often treat it as some "Christian duty that must be done" rather than as a sacred exercise of remembering our sinfulness and God's saving mercy with deep reverence, humility and gratitude.

If we are to live for Christ in a corrupt society, we must keep reverence for the Lord as our prod and our prize, our goad and our glory.  Think about it.
