CHURCH GROWTH
SIGNS AND WONDERS

"He was listening to Paul as he talked, and (Paul) gazing intently at him and observing that he had faith to be healed . . ." (Acts 14:9)

What does it look like to have "faith to be healed?"  Does it look like the woman with the issue of blood in Matthew 9:20-22?  How about the centurion with the sick servant in Matthew 8:5-13?  It seems that some people are confidant that "signs and wonders" are possible.  They may even acknowledge that there are people who bring about signs and wonders by some divine ability (See Acts 14:11).

People seem astonished by signs and wonders. Yet, only some come to faith while others become scoffers and scorners.  It is not signs and wonders that produce the faith.  It is the Word of God received, believed and treated with reverential obedience.  Faith is meant to bear witness of the One True God and His Christ, not make us out to be gods.  If anyone comes and performs "signs and wonders" but does not honor God or Christ Jesus, beware lest you be led astray from faith in God [that is, confident trust and devotion to Him; giving Him obedience].  Think about it.
